So I was getting an intermittent fault with a service warning light. Took it to the garage and they said the throttle sensor couldn't determine the position of the throttle. They replaced it with a 2nd-hand one from a Mini (same engine) which stopped giving the fault.
However now when cold, it feels like it's not providing enough fuel to the engine (almost like the choke isn't working correctly) and the car constantly feels like it's about to stall until it warms up. The garage have said they've tried calibrating the 2nd-hand throttle but with minimal change.
A new genuine throttle is over £500 so I want to be sure there's nothing else that could be the issue, or that this is definitely the issue - I don't want to spend £500+ and still have problems

- Could this be that the throttle from the DS3r is tuned (I don't know if this is a part that is/can be tuned) and the 2nd-hand one needs tuning?
- Could this be that the Mini throttle is a variation compared to the DS3, and any standard DS3 specific throttle would work?
- Could this be some sort of interaction issue with the 2nd-hand throttle and another part of the DS3?
- Could it be anything else?
