1.6 BlueHDi 120 instanteneous MPG crazy figures

Hi All

Just purchased a 2016 DS3 and have 10 days to decide if I want it.

I noticed the instantaneous MPG driving figures reported are all over the place. The Trip figure seems more acurate.

While driving at a constant speed in a straight line and not changing gear the instantaneous MPG reported might be something like this

56, 121, 1400, 96, 999.99, 2400, 88, 1500

know these things can give incorrect readings but not 2350mph out

I'm just trying to find out if this could could be a sign that something expensive is at fault like the engine control unit or if it's just something cheap like a sensor
