CALLING ALL DS3 OWNERS WITH THE THP ENGINE !!!....Who's had new engines ??

Hi all,

On friday 4th May my engine decided it didn't want to work anymore covering just under 14000 miles. :mad:

Like many other thp owners mine has sufferd with powerloss problems,hestation and vibration issues in which it's been to the dealers on many occasions from new.

Frustrating as i was in the process of part exchanging my DS3.

After strip down of my engine & full investigation to the cause of the engine failure it was found to be No.2 piston failure in which part of the piston broke off !!!.

Engine's being replaced under warranty but is a slow process :eek:

I am aware of Dangerousfish having EXACTLY the same problem and would like to know how many other thp owners engine's have failed if any and been replaced and for what reason ??

Mine's been in several times and has had various turbo valves and exhaust valves replaced. It was also cleaned with additive several times. It used to go in every 500 miles or so. I decided to do the PCV delete and so far it has been good for the last 3000 miles.

Elaborate please, what do you mean by position modified? Did they cap it off?

no they moved it from the original postion furthur up so tht it didnt pick up the oil causing the explosions etc ( thts all they have told me )

Garath i will see if i can get a picture from my mechanic basically the cast piston broke up causing a chunk of the piston to break off which resulted in the piston rings breaking up also....The broken parts clogged the oil pump & as a result of that Citroen warranty & my repairer decided it was best to replace the engine.
