    When I first mentioned a screwdriver, didn't realise there was a housing over it
    Assume the paper filter comes away with the clip under the housing
    Sump plug washer- noted.

      Ha, I'm glad I don't have to change the filter myself. Shitty design, agreed. And it's the first car I've had that doesn't have that metal can-type filter cartridge.

        I've had several! Spin-on (i.e. metal can type) filters replaced replaceable-element types around the 1960s; manufacturers are now changing back to replaceable-element filters to save waste. It's more messy, but one big advantage is that you can see what's inside the filter.

            I haven't changed the DS3 filter yet (Couple weeks off) but think would prefer the tin can type I had on my Mark 1 Ford Escort (H Reg)

              Personally, I don't think it's any more messy than a top-mounted spin on metal filter.
