  • Headlight deflectors for the continent

Hey guys, I'm planning on driving round Europe this summer, has anyone fitted headlight deflectors on their car? If so, how easy or hard was it?

    Cheers
    DS3 DSport 150 THP

The stick on things are not deflectors as such, more just masks to kill off the light that would normally illuminate the nearside kerb in UK

easy to fit but the instructions for mine didn't give a precise location for the DS3, but you can judge it near enough.

Mine came from an ebay supplier and since they vanished after the first drive in rain they may not have been the genuine article!

When Martin and Arlow fitted theirs for our trip to France they are really easy, I'm sure even I could have managed it.

There is a small cross on the headlight, and this lines up with a mark on the deflector - it was in the circle on the ones they both have.

With the ones below in the post for cyclone, we only used the circle part for France, the other bit detatches.

        Cross is:

Even an idiot can fit them, I can lol. The cross in WTF's photo is your reference mark for the centre of the headlight.

Don't go to Halfrauds who sell them for £9 got to ASDA £4.

Ok putting them on is easy it's the getting them off that causes people problems for some reason. In fact it's even easier to take them off by following this tried and tested method (ask Arlow). When you are waiting for the ferry/train turn your lights on for a few minutes. This heats up the glue on the deflectors and then you just peel them off. if the glue is left on as a whole just get a corner and lift it off. Any sign of reside just dab on it with the sticky deflector and it will be removed. It is that simple. method used many times and NEVER fails. The only reason it would fail is if you do it without having your lights on first.

Yeah, just directs the light so it doesn't dazzle on coming drivers - as we drive on different sides of the road, the headlights are directed different ways. So these adjust that.

I've never bothered and not had any problem yet. If anyone flashes you just lower the headlights and problem cured.

Don't forget your breathalyser if you're going to France after 1st July.

If you get stopped by the Gendarme the least they can do is fine you, the most is impound your car! for the sake of £4 is it worth it?

Once you fit them, then take them off on return, leave faint line of the adhesive residue, on the headlight
Then all u have to do is cut a bit paper out, and stick on with sellotape next time round
Save you a few quid every time- and if you go a lot saves a few quid
