  • Windscreen steaming up

    Hi all,

New to this site and this question might already have been asked but will ask any way. I have a 11 reg Ds3 D sport, my problem is that when it rains the windscreen steams up, the windscreen clear button does the trick but the second you turn it off it steam up again!!! Is their a solution to this? Or is it a case of having the button on all the time n living with the noise of the blowers being o full!?

    Cheers for any advice

          Hi Hodge,

Whilst the great suggestions from the guys above will work - I'm 99% sure I can tell you what the cause is - your windscreen has a build up of 'film' on it that occurs naturally in a car - it comes from breath, etc.

If you pop to Halfords and get some Autoglym Fast Glass and clean the inside of your windscreen (and all other windows) using a microfibre cloth (they'll have some in Halfords), you'll stop it. Use it sparingly, you won't need much and you'll leave smears if you use too much or don't buff it completely off. Also do the outside after you've washed and dried your car (the windows are better 'clean' before using Fast Glass, the Fast Glass does the good bit!).

You'll also appreciate the improved visability - if a windscreen is clean, you barely should be able to see the glass

          Hope that helps.
          Regards,
          Clive.

            Welcome

I had similar and Big pointed out that I had my air on recirculation rather than exterior air intake, may be that?

I get the same problem all the time. Slightest bit of rain and the windows steam up. I use fast glass but it hasn't made a difference.

As I said to WTF make sure that you have fresh air entering the car by checking the air circulator is turned off. When it is on then the CO2 levels rise and cause the condensation on the windscreen especially when it is cold or raining.

There is a note in the handbook regarding the recirculation system.
