1.6 eHDI Airdream Engine Issue

Hi there,

I was driving my DS3 last week, doing about 20-25mph, there was a loud bang before my car came to a halt. When the bang happened, the "STOP" light appeared, as well as an "engine fault" warning in the middle of the dash. The seatbelt pretentioners went off, and the smoke from the explosives filled the cabin. I had no clue what this was and was scared as hell and my car just stopped. Then a warning message of "engine fault" and "front passenger and driver airbag fault" appeared. Luckily I wasn't on a busy road, and managed to push my car out of the way! I called up Citroen Assist, and the AA were as baffled as me as to why the car just stopped. There was nothing on the road for the car to have acted in that way - i.e speed bumps or potholes! I was towed home over 100 miles and my car is currently at my local dealer. They haven't supplied me with a courtesy car - it's been 5 days now! Just wondering if anyone has had a similar issue and what the issue was?

I have got no faith in the car if I am to get it back, being a long distance motorway driver on a regular basis. Thinking of selling it and buying something else...

Sorry to hear about your problems Harley
Sure the Citroen Techies will sort it out
Did you check your engine oil regular?
Its probably just one of those things
Try not let it get you down- this is where the warranty comes in quite handy

Car was only serviced about 6 weeks ago, and because I drive long distances I check all the levels regularly.
Citroen are trying to blame me, saying that the underside of the car has "a few scuffs". They are trying to make out that I have hit something, even though I haven't! It's what they are good at!
Hopefully it will get sorted under warranty and then it is going to be sold! Can't risk it!

Bummer! sorry to hear this, I've had 2 hdi ds3 with no issue so its not the usual, keep us updated as to what the results are etc!

Hello HarleyS, the wife has got an eHDI and has had engine fault flash up a couple of times & it turned out it was just a bad batch of relays but NEVER had any loud bangs or any of the other symptoms that you had!!! Charlie
