  • Price for new Pads and Discs!!?? help please

    Hi All,

I have just been quoted £275 for new brake pads and discs (on 1.6 hdi) and I wondered If anyone could offer any advice as to whether that is a decent price or not?

What have you paid for this work? If you have....

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Adam

    Welcome

I got discs and pads much cheaper from Ross:

    Alistair Fleming Ltd
    Telephone: 01292 280028
    Email: parts@alistairflemingayr.citroen.co.uk

Worth giving them a call and see what they can do! Obvioulsly there are LOADS on ebay, depends on what you are after. I just got standard Citroen parts to replace what I had on mine (120 petrol). Calling Ross is a great place to start. Just mention the club and that I (Joni) recomended them.

Didn't pay for work as my Dad did the work so I can't offer any guidance there.

      *CHOKE*

Can get a set of discs + pads off ebay for around £50. Easy enough to fit yourself with a mate or a garage should only charge you 1 hour labour at the most - A decent local should only charge you for half an hours work !

      Here's a Brembo set for you... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Citroen-Ds...item3cc44a2006

Thank you very much for your help and for offering your thoughts...

I think I'll buy from Ebay or somewhere similar and tap up a mate to fit them.

        Cheers

Check the thred re. discs and pads on the DSR section. A couple of suppliers listed there that will have the size discs you need.

You don't say if that price is for all front and rear discs and pads or just front discs and full set of pads, or who is doing the work.

I'd say for decent quality front discs £60 and full set of pads £50 so I'd say fully fitted price of £275 for full set of discs/pads is ok ish. Worth noting that many of these rapid fit type places use cheap crap and charge premium prices so it's worth asking what parts they're supplying.

If it was me I'd buy the best I could afford without compromising on quality. I think when it comes to tyres and brakes it's a false economy to buy cheap, not to mention the safety aspect.

I purchased my new rotors and pads for the front from EBC direct, they were around £190 before fitting.... As above I believe cheap brakes are a false economy....
