Strange honking noise from steering heeelp!!!

Not sure if anyone else has experienced this.

My 61 plate ds3r since I've had it has made a strange noise when either turning the wheel to reverse parallel park or now even when it's on partial lock pulling away on a hill. It sounds like the noise a toilet makes when there's not enough water writing into the cistern!!!

I work at a Citroen dealership and at first we thought it was the brakes so they got stripped but it's still doing it and there is nothing on citroens fault finding site.

Any ideas?

As Chief says sounds like power steering had similar problem on my Seat Leon just before I traded her in

On both my ds3r and dsport I've had what sounds like a metallic grinding/howling noise when first using reverse when the cars on a slant. Never thought to much about it but mine seemed like it's something to do with the clutch linkages

On an electric power steering system?

No idea if it's electric power steering- all power steering I have ever looked at is hydraulic based with an electric pump or engine fed pump.

Just had a quick read up on it- cool system and they reckon it reduces emissions by upto 5%? lol

Then it could the pinion squeeking, the bearings in the servo motor running dry or out of line or the main linkages might just need topping up with grease...few things could cause a honk lol

But seriously, if it's only occurring when you're actually turning the wheel, it's odds on that it's the steering rack/power steering.

Does it make a noise if you try to turn the wheel while stationary?
