Brakes problem

Yes me again !

Drove home from work last night - no problems whatsoever. Went back out 10 minutes later to pop from the local shop and as I'm going down a hill my brake pedal went solid and I couldn't budge it. Ended up having to put it into 1st all the way down and rip the handbrake up at the bottom. Brake fluid was at correct level.

AA Man came out last night, had a go and didn't have a clue. Told me if it's the same in the morning to give them a call to recover it to a garage.

Went out this morning and exactly the same. Pedal is raised as in the normal position and have to push down with all my force if I want to depress it and even then it only goes 50% of the way and only just about stops the car.

Needless to say it's too dangerous to drive.

Any ideas before I take it to a garage and have them rape me with the cost ?

And before anyone asks no there's nothing stuck behind the pedal >.<

Underneath is the crank vacum pipe for the servo (green tag) - check to see if it's still on



What you described is classic servo pressure fault.

100% brake servo vacuum problem, the lack of vacuum assistance makes the pedal rock solid, the brakes still work but you have to depress the pedal like a bawwsss.

A bunch of my mates said it's the servo and they said that you usually find them on the drivers side behind the engine - but I had no idea where it was on the DS3 !

I'll have a look when I get home !

My tip- for what its worth
Whatever you do - take it to a brake specialist (Either with, or without having had a play with them)
Probly the only thing on any vehicle- make sure you can stop as effectively as you can

Looked under my bonnet and sure enough here's the result...







The black plastic bit is what has actually snapped, I was wondering if it was as easy as just buying that piece and fit it, to me it looks like it's just fitted by those 2 screws ?

I know lol, never been in that situation before where the brakes didn't work, luckily although it was steep its a really long hill so I had a bit more time to think haha
