  • Auto lights probem !

I’m having a problem with the auto lights on my new DS3 and was interested if anyone has seen this problem before or if I’m just not operating the controls properly.

So the problem I have is as follows:

I leave my light switch in the auto position all the time expecting it to turn them on automatically when needed. This seems to work ok in the morning on the way into work, when it’s a little dark the lights come on, when not the drl’s are on. During the day the drl’s are on. But when I leave the office at night 5-6 pm and its very dark the lights don’t come on, only the drl’s. I have to turn the lights off then back to auto or turn them manually to get them to come on!

Do I need to take it back to the dealer ?

I have same prob with wipers, if on when I turn the car off I have to start hem again when back in the car. Just the way designed I think.

Same here, for some reason it seems to be designed that way. The dealer told me about the wipers (having to tap the stalk down) everytime you start the car.
The lights I think is just down to poor design & software. I am finding now at night the sensitivity of the auto-wipers are poor & I am constantly tapping the stalk before the auto-wiper kicks in.

Auto wipers are only auto once manually activated by design. The only problem I have with them is that in light drizzle they are sometimes too sensitive and decide to wipe constantly, even though an interval wipe is all that's required.

Auto lights however should come on automatically with no user intervention as long as the stalk is set to 'Auto'. I've had my DS3 for over a year and I've never had the need to turn the lights off and on again to get them working. It's set to auto all the time and I never have a problem with them coming on in the dark.

I also just leave the lights in auto and never have a problem. It's dark the lights come on it's light they go off without ever messing with anything . Sounds like a trip to the dealer for you. Good Luck!

Thanks everyone for the comments, I’ll pop back to the dealer and see what they say.
Only problem I can envisage is it needs to be dark to see that the lights don’t come on automatically when you start the car.

I will let you all know how I get on.

just a thought is it worth making sure the sensor is clean dosent have a "yuck" build up on it impairing function 30 seconds with some windex and a cloth might save you a trip to the dealer

                  Hi

                  I´m a new Ds3 owner!
I´m from Denmark so bare with me if my english is not a 100% correct.

My 3 month old Ds3 is having the exact same problem as Andygray who starter this thread
Does anybody have a solution to this problem? my local dealer have so far replaced the Bsi box and the com2000 module in the steering column, but the light issue remains

                  thanks

My autolights seem to be able to switch themselves back to Off on the stalk!
So I turn the stalk switch to 'AUTO' and drive my car from A-to-B.
Then sometimes when I restart my car, the stalk is set to '0' not AUTO.
                    Very strange!
                    Kind Regards,

                    Malcolm

^ Most likely a fault on the stalk, is there much resistance when you move the switch around?
