  • Electrical problem or coincidence??

    Hi guys,

Got into the car last night and when I started it (with the lights set to auto) I noticed there wasn't much in the line of light. I got out of the car and checked my headlights - NEITHER headlight was working, and the drivers side full beam wasn't working either. I checked the book to see about fuses in case one had blown, only to find that they are separate fuses. The bulbs I had were osram night breaker plus (I bought them in september 2011) which I replaced with the original bulbs that came in the car. All are now working, but........

I can't imagine it's very likely that all 3 bulbs can just blow at the same time unless there was a reason behind it?
Maybe this is where some of you tell me I should have bought the Phillips bulbs?!

    Any ideas?

That is an odd one, was there any other evidence of power drain such as slow moving window or anything? Electrics are a little out of my area but a battery voltage test might help.

Nothing at all - checked DRL's, fog lights, brake lights, radio, windows, interior lights and everything was working as it should!

        *scratches head*

Take it you checked the connections to the lights as well?

Might be just one of those things, best keep at eye on it for the next few weeks. If nothing then it was most likely nothing

Osram NBP bulbs are... bad. Or the DS3 likes to eat them. In my DS3 the Osram bulbs lasted only 6 months (I use them even during the day). First one blew and after 2 weeks the other. If you look at the package the bar that marks operating hours is shorter than a "standard bulb". So they aren't even supposed to last long... So next time check the bulbs too ;D

One and a half years installed. Only thing to report is that I can see what's in front of the car at night.

I have got this weird thing happening to me on occasions and i don't know how or why it's triggered.
When i'm driving at night time (or times dark enough for the main beam to be lit), it sometimes happens that my dashboard lights turns up full brightness saying auto-headlights turned off, to then turn back on a few seconds without my lights actually going out...?

well i near crapped myself - when i changed the bulbs, all the interior lights turned off and i was really beginning to panic.....i then realised it was the economy mode!
I've had no problems since replacing the bulbs - all working grand. BUT (biggie, one for you) my passenger window going up/down is VERY slow, that means there could now be a fault, yes?

Drop the window down and then pull off the rubber strip around the window, now try the glass again. If it moves quickly then you need to lube to rubber, if not then you have an issue with the motor unit - dealer
