  • finding live

    hi
at the moment i have a C4 vtr+ (2011) and i have a Novus Blackvue 400G HD that needs permanent live to run whilst not in the car, the cig lighter is switched live, so i have hardwired into the car.
my question is when i get my DS3 where in the car will i be able to achieve this? can i convert the cig lighter to be permanent live?

    cheers

Probably or some on here have added a "piggy-back" fuse to provide another live from the dashboard area.

Also it goes without saying if you start messing about with the wiring then it's 'adios warranty'.
It's a camera isn't it. Cameras don't normally play songs do they?

I've taken a live from the cigarette lighter without issue, it's actually pretty easy to get in to as well. You can thread a cable under the plastic trim at the bottom and lift out the lighter adapter quite easily with a flat head screwdriver.

I've done that. However, cyclopops is looking for a permanent live.

              Missed that bit.

Other than running a fused live directly from the battery through the firewall or from the alarm(not sure that will be a powerful enough feed or where it's located) is gonna be your best bet I think.

                thanks guys.
the camera only uses a small amp, so should be fine, it just needs 12v

There may be a permanent live feed to the radio/CD unit. (Required so that memory isn't lost when the ignition is switched off)

Isn't that what the memory is for?

The whole eco thing, with the radio shutting down after 30mins means it's probably likely there isn't a decent feed behind there.

If you don't have the citroen subwoofer fitted then there will be a permanent live in the boot

hi tmmy, any chance of a pic where i will find that?
this cam uses 3w max when recording, when the car is still for 3 mins, it goes into park mode, and only records when triggered by movement (useful in car parks)

                        cheers

sorry this isnt the best pic, but if you go into your boot (im assuming this is a standard thing across all ds3's?) lift up your boot floor, then on the bottom right you should be able to pull the carpet away from the right side wall, it should just bend upwards a little, revealing a small red plug. it should look like this, but with no cables connected to it

on that picture, the big red wire is the live power for my subwoofer, which is on constant I believe. Hope this helps, let me know if you want any more info/ pics
