  • Wing mirror woes

Just discovered that my nearside wing mirror is loose, & flopping around - there's a good 3-4 mm of play - but there's no sign of it having been knocked (although it may well have been - there are some careless b*stards in our office car park)

Any suggestions for how to find out whether something just need tightening internally, or whether it's going to be £££? I've no idea how the mirrors are fixed internally, and whether they are capable of coming loose without something being broken inside.

Somebody mentioned the same thing the other day. I don't know how they are fixed but whenever I'm not sure of a part I look for a second hand one for sale on eBay and study the pic. Saved me hours the other day with a part for my Freelander :0)

You would need to take off the inner door panel, then tighten the screws that hold the mirror on. It's simple. Mirrors coming loose have been a problem for a a while on the DS3.

If your wing mirror is loose on the pivot (i.e hanging like a droopy willy) then it's the pin that supports the mirror which is broken. That means a new mirror for the car I'm afraid.

          No droopy willy problems here!

It's loose where it attaches to the door.

            Thanks Cyclone.

Can someone point me in the direction of a guide to removing the inner door panel?

Not sure if there is a guide but what to do is work your way around the door card removing the screws first, taking note of where each one goes. Once that's done make sure the window is fully closed and then use a trim tool to gently prise the card from the door.

Cheers Cyclone - I'd found the first link, but it's not much help without the pics. Those diagrams from the other side are v helpful - many thanks!

Nice one, seeing the pics in the second link got me thinking that there must be a RP Doc for the trim and yes there was!
