  • Anti pollution fault

    Gents,

My 1.6thp petrol Dsport has been taken back to dealers as got yellow engine management warning light and noting anti pollution system faulty.

Has anybody heard about this? also searching the internet this seems to be a big issue with Peugeot engines which are the same as mine?

Seems that Peugeot cannot solve their issue so will be keeping a close eye on this.

Could be something like a blocked filter or dodgy connection, that could put it up possibly, did it on my old work van years ago.

Yeah it will be! Have you taken the remap off before giving citroen the car?

Can't take remap off without getting Dave to reconfigure, car was dropped off Sunday and got loan car from Enterprise via AA Monday but only for 2 days. Have been chasing Citroen dealer for update and as of last thing tonight they cannot work out why it will not start, I told them this was not the fault reported/noted on job sheet and the muppet said sorry looked at wrong job sheet and they still looking at mine.
Have told dealer need loan car tomorrow as Enterprise car goes back to which they said will let me know.
Sofar I find the service to be crap, if not fixed or loan car provided tomorrow will take car off them and get it sorted via Citroen main office.

Sounds familiar. I have a similar story I could tell you. Where are you based? Was the car running alright apart from the warning?

Car was chipped 1 week before and flying, however this is wifes car and she is careful, I jumped in it Saturday and within 100m warning light (not giving it any beans as cold) drives fine but appears no turbo working. Looking online Peugout have had issues with this engine but Citroen no nothing! I am in Rugby but travel all over.

Hi smudger, sorry to hear about the problems.. I have had similar problem with my car since having the tuning box fitted same time as yours. The first day it was fine and no problems, but now every day since the engine light comes on and also the esp/asr fault light comes on for no reason when i have full throttle but not going very fast. When this happens the car has a safety feature which basically feels like it has turned the turbo off. It goes into safe mode where the car does not want to rev past 3000rpm. I have a ecu monitor and I reset the mil light and then turn engine on and its fine. I think you will find that maybe the remap has caused this, i know your car is petrol and mine is diesel but it is a coincidence that since getting them chipped that we have similar problems.
The problem is that citroen may see the remap or hopefully just reload it which would be better. Viezu in bromsgrove tried to day to remap my ecu as I have problems with the tuning box with the mil light and esp/asr fault but the ecu is too new and they can not remap it for 3 weeks (i have also removed the dpf and replaced the filter system) the cars is great and flys but is a real pain in the ass with the 'safe' mode and warnings.
Im guessing that citroen have put something in the ecu which does not like remaps. Your getting anti pollution fault and im getting asp/esr warnings with both of us with mil lights on. When these flash up the car is really slooooow until the mil light is reset via the odb port.
If citroen reset the mil light then drive it again the mil light may come on and they may see the ecu remap or best case scenario they just reload the ecu and all will be ok.
You may want a odb reader with the function to reset the mil in the future rather than taking it to citroen - these are quite cheap if you do it via a laptop or a self contained device. The vi monitor does these, but is not the cheapest as it does alot more also.

                    Let us know what happens.

                    cheers, mark

                      Mark,
Will give Dave a call once I know what Citroen say if they ever get round to doing anything, will also be in touch to see about the readers. However others seem to have no issues on Thp after chipping so hope mine is a car fault not the remap, I had the same problem with a Mercedes disel after chipping by Angel and that turned out to be engine management fault not the work by Angel.

i am currently trying to purchase a lexia 3 to read exactly what is happening when my engine light and esp light comes on.

Who would be good to know how many people have had petrol remaps and diesel and if there were any problems with warning lights - apart from the mil light.

It does sound strange that you have an anti pollution light coming on and I have the esp light coming on and staying on too - when the car is no where near wheel spinning - in 4th 5th and 6th gear when under load at mid range rpm.
I am sure when the lexia 3 arrives tomorrow I can see what is happening and hopefully your dealer will be able to do the same - and not see the remap ;-/

Like you say the car flys with the remap and they are GREAT! - It is just frustrating that something is not 100% at the moment on the management side on mine and hopefully yours is a separate fault if no one else has reported any common faults after ecu mapping.

                        Please keep us updated.

                        cheers, mark

With lexia which is now diag box. and PPS for pug. You will not be able to tell if it has been remapped unless you monitored the perameter measurments while driving ie turbo presure etc. in which case the referance values for differant sensors etc will read differant which could flag up ideas

The only other way to tell is if the software referance number for the engine software has been changed and it also logs in the engine and bsi indentification how many times to software has been accessed and changed. In most cases with a fault like yours, if theres no perminant faults in the engine ecu we would normally carry out an engine software download from citroen if availible, ensure the light is off and as the customer to monitor.

Now i have not a clue how remap companies install their maps etc but on previous 207 GTi's THP which have been remapped the softeware referance has stayed the same so now way it could be told its had a remapped, and also im not sure if a citroen downloads will over write the map?? would be interged to know

Seems to be as you have had it remapped all sensors are operating beyond their referance values and therefore bringing on EML and going in limp mode.

Dealer has just phoned to confirm there were errors in the auto adaptives and have downloaded lastest software updates (lost remap then). They are taking car on a 40 mile drive whilst plugged into computer to check full diagnostics and will get car back tomorrow. Looks like they could not read the remap as dave said they wouldn't, just need to meet up with him again to remap the car.
