Keep topping up small amounts, it's always best to stay a few notches from the max and min.
Yep you should be able to see oil but it shouldn't be 'full of oil'

Thanks, i know how to check, ive been driving for over 10 years now lol
Yeah, even after wiping the dip stick it's impossible to see.

Ill top it up again once it warns me after starting the engine.

You must have v clean engine oil then.... I have done 11000 miles now and can see the oil on the stick with no problems.....

That's really not a good sign....

I'd recommend you double check it before starting the engine... Running an engine with oil below the set thresholds is a really bad idea..

Yeah in all seriousness I would be concerned that the oil in your engine is not even reaching the stick..... As Dangerousfish and I suggested earlier, top it up in stages until you can see some oil to avoid damaging the engine....

Even if you can't see it, you should be able to feel the oil on the stick if its there

                Okay guys thanks.

How much oil does it hold, and whats the values at the max and min marks?
This can help me estimate the levels as I know i've put 500mls in after if was flashing low.

The oil does look mega clean :-)

How much will be in your handbook. As for what that is at min/max is probably not mentioned.

Nothing in the manual, but normally the difference between the "MAX" & "MIN" marks is a litre.

In other cars I've owned the engine oil capacity is listed under specifications in the handbook. I haven't checked the DS3 but I'd be surprised if it wasn't in our manuals. If it isn't call a local dealer and ask them

Thanks, well half a litre seems fine for now. Ill be keeping a close eye on it.

                          *Fingers crossed*

Whether you care for my opinion or not - The fact is you can't see oil on your dipstick which indicates that either oil isn't getting into the inspection chamber or your oil is actually below the minimum threshold..

Keeping an eye on it isn't the most advisable thing to do. I would recommend you purchase more oil and top it up to within the thresholds or take it to a Citroen Mech to get some advice on why you can't see the oil on the dipstick at which point they'll probably put more oil in it for you at cost.

Thanks, yeah i can see oil on the dipstick. It covers all of the pointy end but I just cant see where it ends up the stick! lol
Why don't they have a strip of coloured filter paper instead!

Because you should be able to see the difference, if not you can at least feel for oil..

It it's just covering the pointy end then again, it's below the recommended minimum threshold.

I have checked. The manual does give the total capacity, but it doesn't give the difference between "MAX" & "MIN", which is more relevant to this thread.
