  • engine starts in eco mode

hi all, i am a newbie to this forum as i have a concern regarding the eco mode on my HDI diesel engine, when i depress the clutch the engine cuts out as it should, but it starts up without pushing clutch down, mostly after around 35 seconds, any thoughts thanks

    Hi, welcome.

What did the dealer say it was?

If you went into the dealership spouting something we recommend it's likely you'll make yourself look like a tool

Tell them the inclined wrench-pitch is broken and they should know what to look for.

This is normal behaviour, unless I'm misunderstanding the problem?

          To quote bigglesworth:

Which would also be applicable to the engine restarting on it's own.

mine does that occasionally - just restarts with nothing perceptible changing after an amount of time.

The engine starts if the eco system is not holding enough stored charge doesn't it ? On mine first thing in the morning it can restart after 10secs or so until I've driven it a bit and then it can be off for much longer

Yep, charge level in the e-booster is also one of the monitored checks.

The engine starting by it's self is nothing to worry about, just the system doing it's job.
