    So sat week had the DS3 in for first service was told that the front left disc was warped 10000 miles on the car was told there would be a warranty claim phone next week to arrange to have new parts fitted.
    Phoned today to be told discs not covered under warranty if the car has done over 6500 miles and to add insult to injury the dealer asked me £200 to fit a new disc and pads.
    Has anyone else had simular problems how did you address the issue I was given the no for customer service at Citroen told to ring them they might knock a few pound off poor service really pi**ed off with the whole thing.

    Go to a local garage, will be less than half the price lol

      Brakes are not covered by the warranty that is supplied by the vehicle, the 6500 miles element is to do with the parts themselves.

      As your car has covered over 10,000 miles then there is nothing the dealer can do for you and I doubt that Citroen would knock anything off.

            Good question indeed! My son's ancient Renault Trafic campervan developed a violent juddder when braking at 50 mph, some 3000 miles after the discs were replaced.

            I checked the run out and found values of 0.002" and 0.030" (don't have a metric dial gauge!) - we replaced the 0.030" one and it cured it.

            If you haven't felt anything through the pedal I would ask what the runout is - I think that 0.1mm (0.004") is the accepted 'modern' limit but if it's only notionally over and you can't feel anything does it need to be replaced?

            Just my £0.02....................

              I suspect that many of the cases diagnosed as "warped discs" are in fact brake rumble caused by uneven transfer of friction material to the disc surface. The only car I've ever had a problem with excessive disc runout on was my Mk1 Escort Mexico, which had the old-fashioned discs with a very deep "top hat" design. Modern, flatter, discs don't suffer to anything like the same extent.

              One comment on the original post:

              Discs should always be replaced in pairs. Small differences in the levels of trace elements in the disc material can affect the coefficient of friction

                I asked the question of evidence because I feel sometimes garages use brakes as a bit of a cash cow.They know customers won't defer the work and will get it done there and then.I would even say some garages tell fibs
