  • Diesel 110BHP Cooling Fan

After trading my THP in for a Oil Burner I notice the cooling fan seems to come on at odd times and is really loud ??The Thp fan never seemed to come on

It is more than lightly normal I just wondered :confused::confused: After the last cars woes maybe paranoid lol

Mmmmm I can honestly say although I have noticed mine at times, it's not loud and more often than not I don't think it's on....

What type of driving are you doing ? Are you tanking it about or do you notice it on motorway drives too ?

I only noticed it on Sat and it seemed to be on but the car was not up to temp ??Then dinner time after a 6 mile spirited drive home left the car for half an hour then went to go back to work and it kicked in again after 1/2 mile or so maybe heat soak then stayed on for say 2 miles car still not really showing temp gauge in the middle ....................well weird the fan outside the car does sound loud though,as this is my first ever derv burner it could be correct

Maybe when I am getting the Dab unit fitted get the Techies to check it out ....................I am really loving the endless fuel tank though

I think what you are hearing is the consequence of the regeneration cycle for the DPF - this happens on mine quite often (despite doing 18k per year at decent speeds). The temperature is raised to a very high temperature and the fan comes on probably to direct the heat away from the engine.

Thats the only thing I was thinking of but how do you tell if its doing its cleaning cycle ?? does anything come up on the display ??

Nothing displayed but you can hear it when in traffic for example - also it prevents the Eco mode from kicking in - you see it flicker the Eco light on but then the car overrides it and keeps running due to the process underway. Also if you park up and open your drivers door you should be able to feel the heat radiating from under the car.

I never use the car in Eco mode always turn it off before starting and you can hear the fan when in traffic also as said when I got out the car smelt hot but the gauge was not unduly high so maybe it was in cleaning mode

I have only had the car a week and it was a demo car so maybe it never got many good spankings
