Do any fellow 150THP sport members have like a 'chain' rattle when they first start the engine?
It clears as the engine warms up.I called into my dealers today with it and was told it was a 'characteristic' of the car!!
"B*ll*cks" I said, Ive had the car 3wks and it only started yesterday. He also mentioned the turbo or a 'chamber' that fills with oil before the vvt starts!!!!!!!! wtf.

Anyway its in on Saturday for its 1 month checkup so they looking at it then.

    Anyone else experienced this?

Unfortunately, in my experience, if a door fell off, most dealers ( not just Citroen) would say it's a 'characteristic' of the car. Hope you get it sorted.

I have the same on my car. It is where the engine is chain driven and all the oil is at the bottom and needs to lube the whole chain. It doesn't happen all the time. Usually if parked on a slight slope. The thps don't have vvt. I also find if my fiancé has been driving the car for a week when I drive it it stutters when I first use the turbo. Also something to do with oil being somewhere where it shouldn't.

I believe that they do have 'VVT', and a host of other advanced features such as

          Fully variable valve drive.
Without requiring a throttle butterfly, fully variable valve drive controls engine output by infinite adjustment of valve stroke and intake valve opening times. This loss-free load management reduces fuel consumption, cuts back emissions, and ensures better engine response with an enhanced standard of motoring refinement.

          Twin-scroll turbocharger.
On the twin-scroll turbocharger the ducts of each set of two cylinders are separated from one another in the exhaust gas manifold and the turbocharger. This serves to build up a charge effect from just about 1,400 rpm, with torque being generated just as quickly as on a compressor engine.

          Direct gasoline injection.
High-pressure gasoline injection (120 bar), together with advanced turbocharger technology, is the main reason of the high level of specific output, low fuel consumption and the exemplary emission management ensured by the turbocharged engine.

          Fully controlled oil pump.
On-demand oil supply delivers only as much oil as is actually required. Depending on operating conditions, the volume flow-controlled oil pump requires up to 1.25 kW less drive energy and reduces fuel consumption by up to 1 per cent.

          On-demand water pump.
Driven by a friction gear, the water pump is not activated until the engine has reached its normal operating temperature, thus enabling the engine to warm up more quickly. This serves both to reduce fuel consumption and improve emissions at the same time.

          Aluminium crankcase in bedplate design.
Offering best-in-class stiffness, excellent noise management, and the integration of numerous functions and ancillary units, the aluminium crankcase is quite unique in every respect.

Oh and mine rattles a good bit - not the quietest engine I've ever had

I wonder if there is a way of quieting it down.Maybe using some after market oil or whatever the lubricant is , which has an additive that coats it (ie teflon or ptfe based).

I will enquire when its in because personally I feel that this noise is unacceptable. If I had heard this on the demo car I would never have gone for this car.

Thanks for the info Owd git !

Slick 50 synthetic oil additive is suppose to cover the internal engine parts with ptfe and is supposed to improve reduced friction and noise. Apart from that there is not anything else on the market that you would want to do.

Adding snake oil won't make much difference; it is also "prohibited"! (Oner's Handbook, P173)

It is actually a characteristic of the car. the same thp engine in 207 do the same thing after age. But saying that, there have been cases were the timing has been slightly out due to a faulty hydraulic chain tensioner.

But again saying that we had alot of warranty claims thrown out because they dont consider it a fault

all remember that you petrol turbo lumps must run 5/30 c2 fully synthetic

i can understand age and the rattling, or putting some other 'gunk' in the car.But this car is brand new , not even 400 miles on the clock, so something is amiss.

erm they are all differant. 90% of them rattle from cold and make that high pitched noise when started. But then some of them are just quite.

                        The minis are the same

the wife has a 120bhp dstyle and ive had it in the dealers for them to look at and they said its fine, now the rattle has got worse so think im gonna pop in again
and tell them to put it in writing thats its fine, the wifes has done 8k now great car but this rattle is unacceptable on a new car.

I just picked my car up and the dealer said he had contacted citroen and that the noise is ok.It is, as some one has said, to protect the engine when its cold.Something to do with the vvt valves.

it dont sound like valves to me lol
as somone as said and in my experience its the chain rattleing untill the oil gets round it and lubricates it,
and again in my experience of cam chains thats not good
