I would like a 2nd electronic key ... How much ... Erm ok

I phone my local citroen dealer and asked about 2nd electric key.we have the spare normal key but the wife would like a electric one to

They said to me it will be around £200 inc vat and programming ?
Has any one else bought another key?

Yup that's about the price you'll be paying, when I had my C4 (old model) it cost me £150 for a new key and to have it programmed

Hmmm looks like I'm going to have to bite the bullet and buy one its a shame that it only comes with one electronic key and a bog standard one

Wow that's expensive, I got two with my DSport+ , reading that made me check I'd put the spare in a safe place

+ has the alarm doesn't it? That would be the reason it came with 2 remote keys.

Ah ok, my Astra SRi had an alarm as well but that turned off with the key when you unlocked it as well as the remote fob.....

That sounds about right as you have the cost of the key, the cost of the programming and then the cost of the coloured fob part too.

The black plastic part of my Key fob has broken, Every time I turn the key in the ignition it twists the metal key out of the plastic part!! I called into Citroen Exeter today and they tell me yes it looks like a design fault but its not a warranty item so i will have to replace, quoted just shy of £200 to replace whole thing coded and everything!

All I need is the black plastic casing, my key and electronic circuit board are fine..... Does anybody know a Citroen breaker that may have one....?

Thats bad as Citroen replaced my brothers when his broke on his old 2006 C3 Exclusive.

More likely that his dealer replaced under goodwill, the key is not normally covered by warranty as it is a wear and tear item.

Bigfeet what exactly is "under goodwill"? Does that mean the dealer is footing the bill or does Citroen provide a small amount of money to the dealer to cover things that wouldn't normally be warranty but due to circumstances the dealer feels they should pay anyway as a gesture of goodwill?

It can be a little bit of both mate.

Sometimes Citroen will offer to pay up to a certain level and then the dealer will pay the rest as a way to show good faith, other times it will be the dealer who is footing the bill entirely. Of course this all depends on your standing with the dealer, a dealer is less likely to want to 'protect' your business if you are the kind of person that kicks off at the slightest thing and has been making a fuss.

Think about this for a minute, you can only help one person but have to chose between this two. The first person is someone who understands that there is a problem which may not be covered but is polite and friendly, the other person has exploded at the thought of paying for something and proceeds to tell you, at some verbal length, that it's all your fault and makes demands and threats.

Who are you more likely going to help?
