  • Passenger side window issue

Rolled down both my windows while driving along today to bask in the sun  and I noticed the passenger window made a scraping gravelly sound when it went down. So I put it back up again (no sound going up) and then down again, this time it was worse as the window juddered a bit. It still works fine but makes that bad sound and juddering movement when rolling down.

I usually operate windows a few times a week.

I saw someone had a squeaky drivers window in another thread so maybe it could be a common fault? Has anyone else had it happen on them?

I'll be contacting Citroen next week about it.

You'd be surprise what collects in the window. Have you flushed out the door/down the gap?

My drivers side gets really bad and clogged with debris, put the hose on the strongest jet/get a pressure washer in there, see if that solves it.

I've heard that the power windows are a typical fault on DS3s. I had the driver side window assy replaced under warranty as it was making knocking noise while up and driving. The dealer told me that the issue is too little grease on the lifting/lowering mechanism. Now my driver side window works perfectly but passenger side noticeably worse, juddering a bit and movement is slower. Didin't get the other side under warranty though

Thanks guys for the replies. Amazingly it has kinda fixed itself. I thought I'd try turning right rapidly at speed (it was safe to do this don't worry) and tried the window again. No more juddering or scraping sound I probably just knocked the crap blocking the mechanisms into another place haha. But it is considerably slower than the driver's side so I'll still try out flushing out the window. I've got a track event tomorrow morning so I'll see if the intense G's will fix the speed of the window

My passenger side window is also slower then the driver side. Guess it's normal.
Also - and I'm talking to you, Citroen - why can't the passenger side window be fully opened/closed with one click like the driver side?!

Citroen only do that for models which require full remote closure. Best bet is to replace the switch with an auto close switch, granted the labelling will be a little off

A quick question... (I haven't collected my DS3 yet - get it tomorrow!)
Do the windows auto-close on locking the car with the key fob like on my old (2007) C4?

Perhaps we can all 'race' our windows at the National?

Alright well after my track event it has actually become worse! The drivers side window is now making the same noise but its speed is still the same as before. I found that the felt rubber bit in between the little quarter window and moveable window is loose so I'm guessing that is what is causing it. When I get home I'll take a picture of what I mean.

How hard would it be to replace the passenger window switch with an auto-close one? Also is the switch available as a spare part?
