USB socket charging phone/ hifi system

should the usb port under the little flap where the aux socket is too, should that charge my phone? plugged in my sony xperia T and nothing happend, but if i put in a usb stick with music in, itl power that up and play through the radio fine?

so im guessing it should charge the phone aswell?

also, how do you know if you have uprated speakers etc? ive got a tweater on middle of dash with hifi system on, but not sure if that is a standard thing or the uprated system? i have a ok version of the ds3, the citroen marshalls said i have uprated sound system and also sport suspension but not sure about them, but the car doesnt roll as much as my c2 did, but i got use to stiff suspension as fitted raceland coilies on my c2 and ran them for over a year.

You have the uprated hifi as you wouldnt have the centre speaker if you didnt and the charging thing ive had that problem my solution was to try a new cable which worked

tried a new cable from tescos still didnt work, will try an iPod cable with iPod tomorrow at work, cheers for your help!

Sometimes the cable can be funny if its not the original cable and just a cheap one which phone is it

Just read lol it may be that the phone isnt getting enough power through the cable to charge it

My Xperia S doesnt charge from the usb port. It didnt charge on the usb port on my old VW Polo either. Me thinks they are designed more for iPods. I had to get a 12V to usb thingy to charge my phone.

yeah, thats what I done got a usb 12v socket so got 2 usb sockets now, just annoying when go for like a long drive to a show or something and have to juggle charging satnav and my phone when thetes already a standard port for the phone lol

Charges my Galaxy S3 no problem. Used it with TomTom maps on our trip to the South Of France and back and it kept going with a full charge all the way. Was using the cable for charging my kindle as the one for the phone wasn't long enough.
