  • Frozen screenwash jets...

Whats the DS3 like for frozen jets, had a volvo C30 prior and it was pants for the jets freezing up. Usually thawed out when got to work (30 miles away). Any advice on how to stop them freezing up would be great to.

Don't Volvos have heated jets, to cope with those long, cold Swedish winters? (or maybe that's only 'proper' Volvos, not Fords in disguise...)

Citroen is normally very bad for this but it may be to do with scottish weather!! The fuse for the washer jet is number 3 we fill the washer bottle with winter screenwash and give the customer spare fuses just incase.

We found that uprated the fuse from 10amp to 15amp helps a bit.

Just put plenty of screenwash in there, more than water.....usually stops that from happening. Its not something we can avoid though

If you feeling flush you could fill your washer bottle with vodka! Ahcohol has a lower freeze point compared to water!!

                        Washer jet fuse??

It will blow if you try the washer jets for too long, it's design to in order to protect the washer pump (ask john how much compared to a fuse!). Best thing to do is change out the fuse from a 10amp to a 15amp, stops it from blowing all the time.

As a service engineer, I carry a small gas powered soldering iron with a hot air attachment on it (£22.00 in Maplins but possibly cheaper online or fleabay). This de-frosts the jets in no time at all as I haven't yet found anything that will stop them freezing overnight.

                              DS3 110tdi DSport, 15 days old - 3155 miles & climbing.
