  • Very optimistic mpg on THP 150

For some time now my THP is giving me a very optimistic mpg  .. around 62 mpg while driving on a flat road doing 56 mph (90 kph) !!

Is this normal for a THP 150 or could this be a faulty sensor or something like that ??

About a year ago I took her to a car wash and the guy sprayed the radiator grill and the radiator with high pressure water and it made a lot of sensors on the engine rust .. And she had a couple of oil leaks.

Also, it feels down on power and sometimes it hesitates when on full throttle in 3rd gear .. It's like a very sudden cut in power and a very loud knocking noise from the engine for 1 second, then it goes back to normal.

It has 59k kilos and I had it for 2.5 years

It sounds like you have the standard superknock with older THP's.

36k Miles.. I reckon you're due for an engine failure fairly soon. Get it to your dealer to look at asap. £10 goes on them reading a superknock error code.

So much for my optimistic mpg :P .. Thanks for the info fish, I know about the superknock but now I'm sure .. I'll get it to the dealer at 60k for servicing and leave it there till it's fixed .. The superknock isn't its only problem :P

hope they figure out what's going on with your car. As for the gas mileage, your in Saudi right? gas about 10 - 15 pence a liter.

              It's 7 pence a liter I think

It gives me some indication on how the engine is doing, plus I'm a uni student so I don't wanna spend my money on fuel even if it's that cheap .. Better spend it on going out with friends and family .. And modding my car which is what I'm going to do after I service it

Will this problem be solved if I install an oil catch can ?! Or do I have to do both an OCC and a rear PCV delete ? I mean is a PCV delete required ? And will it harm my engine ?

Cuz from what I've seen here a PCV delete may harm the engine on the long run .. And it's possible to put an OCC without the rear PCV delete

I'm not an expert and I don't have much knowledge about all this but I'm trying to learn as much as I can, cuz I'll put an OCC on my car after its service is done
