Hi. My wife has a 1.6 hdi and all of a sudden when its hot outside the engine fan is on.Even when starting first thing in morning. It only seems to come on when air con is on. Engine is not over heating and water level is ok.

My petrol sometimes has the fan running first thing for a minute or 2 when been in the sun
Probably temp sensor wiring may be getting warmer than the temp sensor

I can think of 2 reasons for this 1 With the warmer outside temps and the engine having to work harder to run the AC the car is turning on the fan to keep if from overheating not because it is or thinks it is overheating. 2 the more likely reason in this case is engine fan also pulls air through the AC condenser (the radiator looking thing) in front of the normal radiator.

Mine is running always when the AC is on, I think cyclone is right.

I assume by water level you mean the radiator fluid?

WTF had this the other day too. Topped up to the max level and the fan dropped off next time she stopped.
