  • Front Bumper Popping Out in the Heat

Is anyone else's front bumper unclippingbitself in the heat?

Where the bumper meets the pointed end of the front wing on the drivers side (under the headlight) the upper most section keep popping out away from the wing.

I thought someone had run into my car yesterday when I 1st noticed it, but realised there were no marks on the bumper or wing. Sat on the drive today facing the sun has made it happen again.

It's awkward me to clip back in as you have to support the wing from behind the headlight to pop it back in.

Sound's like the peg/clip that keeps it in may have snapped, have you checked?

The bumper is held on by tabs on the bumper that are clamped between the wing and a plastic piece. The forward of the 2 bolts that tighten the clamping plate may have come loose and is allowing the bumper to pop out OR the tab on the bumper may have broken off. As a bit of warning the forward bolt is very hard to get at. the aft one which is removed in the picture is easier.

Great pic cyclone, I think you must have taken hundreds of pics of your DS3 as you made the changes

Its only the far right part of the the bumper (triangular tip) that's popping leaving an unbroken
          slot in the bumper exposed.

The tip of the wing seems extremely flexible as I have to support it from inside the engine bay to clip the bumper back in. I need to have a look and see if anything else is loose.

          Thanks for the pics!!!!

Cyclone, ya little Beauty!! You're on the Christmas kiss list now (promise I'll shave 1st ).

5 minutes and the black plastic retaining plate was out. The moulded prongs that engage into the slots in the bumper were not protruding out far enough to locate in the bumper slots firmly. I stretched them out with a screwdriver and refixed the plate.

The bumper is now held in a vice like grip and I can't pop it out from behind any more. Also did the rear on the same side which had the bumper slightly proud also. It's looks a lot better now. May fettle it when I have time to make it 100% perfect.

            Thanks again.

This happened to our brand new car that we only picked up 2 weeks ago, i noticed the the wing was sticking out so i just pushed it back in, after about 60 miles back out again... this happened 3 times in total so i took it to the dealer who looked at it right away and said that the clamp with the 2 bolts in - as pictured above - had either not been tightened up at the factory or had come loose, job done in 10 minutes and no problems since- yippeeee !

Is that better or worse than a bulldog chewing a wasp ?

                      Definitely worse

Been hot as hell again today and the bumper has stayed in place.

Angel ...... Wouldnt be surprised if the locating tabs weren't sticking out far enough like mine. As long as its sorted, its all good!

Seems like a common problem, I've seen no end of DS3's with the bumper not attached properly and I've always thought they had been bumped or pulled it off on a kerb or something. Nice to know if this occurs there's a quick fix to the problem

Does anybody know if the rear bumper fixing is similar? Since my 'discussion' with a lamp post in May, the top Right hand corner of my rear bumper keeps slipping out of alignment with the adjacent body panel (it only sticks out by 5 or 6 mm but its enough to be noticeable).

I might have a crawl around underneath this weekend and have a look if I get the chance.
