  • Oil Usage

    hi all

car is nearly 1 year old although its only done 6000 miles as it sat on the garage forecourt till march this year and i have had to top up about 500ml of oil having never had a french car not sure if this is normal. last car was a seat diesel and it never used any oil from one service to the next and it was a 07 plate.

    advice welcome

500ml in a year ? Doesn't seem like a huge amount, guess it depends on how you drive etc ? I'm assuming there is no oil on the ground when you park up ?

Mmmm I don't think I ever put that in my first DS3 but probably cos it had it's first service when 10m old (12500 miles). I honestly think I never needed to top it up in that 10m period. No oil top up in the new one either since May 2013...

That is not an abnormal amount of oil to use for the miles. Some cars will use more some less and some will not use any noticeable amount but again it is ok.

I've been wondering why mine does not eat any at all...

My belief is vehicles either burn oil, or loose it, if they use some. Or where else it go?
My THP 150 didn't use a drop in over 22k miles
THP 155 has "used" 450ml in just under 8k miles. Not a lot I know, and am not worried. But rather it wouldn't use any
(And I know it was precisely 450ml cos I measured it to FULL)

Reckon its 500 ml between TOP and BOTTOM markings on my model
Due to articles Ive read (One on here) gonna change oil regular as it don't do engine any good getting low, or old oil
They changed from a 50% syntheticic oil in the THP, to fully synthetic oil bout 18 month ago- info rapide on it or something

              Engine oil ends up either
              -under the car
-in the combustion chamber => through exhaust
              -in turbo/IC
              -in OCC
