  • ESP/ASR fault

Hey guys, haven't been on in ages, hope all's well with you all!
Straight to business now lol - I was driving home tonight, twiddling along at 40mph and a warning beep scared the crap out of me, it flashed up on the display esp/asr fault. The service light came on and the esp light on the dash stayed lit. I pulled in a mile or so down the road and ran the diagnostic thing through the radio menu which then repeated the same warning, along with engine fault. I turned the car off and on again and all had disappeared, it hasn't come back since.
And I'm not sure if I imagined it or not, but I think the accelerator decided it didn't want to respond... (This all happened as I was about to overtake) and I had to pull back in.
Anyone else experienced this? I'm hoping to get it looked at if not tomorrow then early next week but I'm just curious now!

Had the same fault come up, drove the car normally all day with that fault showing.

Started the car up the next day and it cleared, not seen the fault code for 2 weeks now.

The wonderful world of Citroen I guess!???

Have you read the fault codes with an OBD reader? Even if the light clears the fault code should stay on memory.

Basic fault code readers will only look to the engine controller(ecu)
ASR/ESP faults are stored in the ABS ecu, you'll need a proper diagnostics kit to check these....Lexia is your best option

Cheers folks. Just into work via my dealers. They're keeping the car until Monday as they have to replace the accelerator pedal - something along the lines of an 'electronic sensor signal fault' (the wording of that might not be correct lol). They said it wasn't a problem that they had seen before but gave me courtesy car as they were worried that the accelerator could become unresponsive.

Forgot I had posted this! New accelerator pedal fitted and no further problems!
On an unrelated note, I had a bloody irritating noise when going over speed bumps etc. - it tuned out I needed a replacement engine mount - fitted and covered under warranty.

It was a kind of squeaking noise. I had the same noise in my megane and it turned out I needed a new spring. I mentioned this when the car was in and they said it was the engine mount - wasn't going to argue with them lol. Though I heard it again yesterday, it'll be going back next week.

Mine's in on Friday for a service and I get the sqeaking as well, will suggest the engine mount.
