  • Brake Discs, Brake Pads?

Hello guys a few questions because I'm a complete numpty when it comes to cars and parts.

I need to replace my discs and pads on the rear, now the question I have is do they need to be the same brand?
like if I use say Pagid brake discs can I use ATE brake pads? or should I always use two that match? or does it not really matter?

and the other question has anybody ever used those brands Pagid, ATE.

sorry if this is a stupid question.

Ive ordered a set of Pagid discs to go on the back, they will be used with a set of GreenStuff pads.

See my post for more details.

No problem using pads & discs from different manufacturers, but it's advisable to use pads from the same manufacturer on both front & rear. The braking system is set up with an optimised front/rear balance. Using pads with different friction levels will upset that balance; pads from the same manufacturer will be matched to maintain the balance.

The same applies, to a lesser extent, to discs. Discs from different manufacturers can have slightly different friction levels, probably not enough to be noticeable front to rear - even discs from the same manufacturer made from different melts (i.e. foundry batches) can have small differences in friction level.
