  • THP 155 Engine Failure Light

    Hi Guys

Hoping that someone might know if this has happened to anyone else.

My engine warning light came on 5 weeks ago and my car has been with Citroen for those five weeks. They have been changing anything and everything that Citroen Technical have been suggesting to no avail. Everything looks fine from a diagnostic point of view but the engine still fails cutting out and going into limp mode. If anyone has experience this im sure you understand how exciting that is!! They still do not know what is causing this problem so any suggestions would be fantastic.

Does anyone know if someone has had the same problem??

Please feel free to message me and i will explain in more depth

    Regards

    Matt

Not occording to the technicians. The engine cylinders backfire which cause it to cut out and go into limp mode. However, its just had a new set of spark plugs on the last service 8 weeks ago and they have changed the coilovers to fix the problem. Again with no success and the engine is still cutting out

Have they had the head off it yet? 5 weeks and the only thing they've done is change the spark plugs?!

I'm gonna throw it out there and say it's most likely a piston failure.

Even a compression test would give them a better indication as to what could be causing the issue. Have you been in touch with CUK yet?

I wonder what happened with Connors THP? Didn't he have similar back firing? (Camo roof DS3, came to FCS)

Backfiring could be caused by many things
                Timing out
                Coil pack breaking down
But after 5 weeks you would have thought the obvious things would have been eliminated by now but knowing how Cuk work the techies don't do anything unless instructed from base

                  Whats been done so far

                  Hi All

This is what has happened so far apologies for the amount to read

                  Vehicle 1st registered: 24.3.11

On 8.3.13 car broke down whilst on holiday. Engine warning light came on and car went into Limp Mode – RAC called.
9.3.13 RAC replaced Coil Over Kit which came up on their computer.

Serviced by Citroen Motorsales Harlow on 21.6.13
Also complained of a whining noise when the car is “under load” ie pulling away – Technicians failed to hear the noise/replicate the issue. I have a recording of the noise.

27.8.13 Vehicle taken in to Citroen Motorsales Harlow as had gone into Limp Mode - low oil and an oil leak was thought to be the cause

29.8.13 Vehicle handed back to us as problem supposedly fixed. - With in 18 hours it went back into limp mode

30.8.13 Vehicle taken back into Citroen Motorsales Harlow as had gone back into Limp Mode.

The car has been with Harlow citroen ever since. Motorsales are liaising with Citroen Technical in both Coventry and France, carrying out numerous tests as instructed by Citroen Technical. The latest replacement part was put into the vehicle on 23.9.13, the vehicle once again failed the road tests.

It is clear that Citroen Technical do not know what the problem is and just changing parts until it works.......

This is about the right time to request a refund.. =/

The vehicle sold to you isn't fit for purpose. You're completely within your rights to be pissed off.

Hi Matty- sorry to hear bout your issues. Never fun reading stuff like that
What makes you thinks its a THP 155, as you say it was first registered 24th March 2011?

ed: The low oil/ light coming up, would not have done engine any good at all to be honest
Am fanatical bout checking oil, prob twice a week at least, and carry oil in the boot
Think theres even an early info rapide on low oil

In my younger days I ignored the oil light on a Capri- engine just stooped at the lights and never started again.......taught me a lesson
Ignored because it had had faulty connections in the past
And sump wasn't even empty of oil

Does your engine cut out as soon as it starts....or go for a few seconds and then cut out. ie does the engine run for a few seconds?

The oil was fine and the on board computer didn't flag low oil so I'm a bit suspect about it. Well I've just pick up a D sport plus as my courtesy car so I'm not complaining for now hopefully they will find the fault this time around

Unfortunately they don't know what it is causing it. It could be the minutest of things but they couldn't get it working.

Hmm, I think I've asked this before, but is my "THP156" a 150 because it was manufactured 28th October 2010?
