  • Radio displaying silent

    Hi all,

our ds3 radio is currently displaying silent and not functioning as an audio device. We can enter menus, change settings and use the trip computer. But not use the radio etc.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

    Thanks,

    tom and charlotte

You will find a post of mine on the forum about the same issue.

No idea why it does it intermittently, but usually bursts into life after a couple of minutes otherwise it's when we switch the engine off/on again.

My suspicion is the button on the end of the radio control stalk sticks in a little causing this, but not 100% certain.

Before anyone says...... I have tried push/pulling every button, knob and twiddly bit but nothing effects the mute condition that only ever happens at engine start up, never happens when we are driving.

Mine does this too normally leaving it a while sorts it out but it can be annoying on a long journey when you have no music

does pressing the volume up and down at the same time do anything? it should mute/unmute the sound. just wondering what happens when silent is displaying.

If your car is still within warranty I'd take it in, my first DS3 had stereo issues (freezing after calls) and they took some information and then obtained CUK agreement to replace it. If the silence doesn't cancel when you press volume up/down together on the stalk there isn't much you can do

Mine does this also, I find it happens if I it cannot find the radio station you might have selected, eg a local station that is out of range.

Does the CD player produce sound or display like it is playing correctly?

The CD or USB work fine, it just seems like the radio fails for some reason

Then it is most likely going to be the radio aerial line not fitted correctly, pop into your dealer and get them to check. Should only take a few minutes.
