  • Confused and angry after first service!

Hi - I have just joined this forum! I LOVE my DS3 and she is just two years old.
Last week she went for her first service to Evans Halshaw, Stockport (BIG mistake I now realise after reading comments on here!) However, my husband took her as I am unable to drive at the moment due to recovering from surgery.
My car has not missed a beat and I am very pleased with her except for a squeaky seatbelt stalk, which I did report when the car was only a few weeks old to the dealership in Hyde where I bought her from. They said that if I could live with it, to mention it when it was next booked into the garage. I know I should have taken her in before now but it is such a pain taking your car into the garage, and the noise came and went (typical!) So when my husband booked her in at the service department, he said that all was fine with the car but that the seatbelt stalk squeaked badly, at times. It was noted on the service sheet.
Later that day he got a phone call to say that one of the mechanics had gone off sick, so could they keep the car until the next day? This wasnt a huge problem, as I wasnt needing the car and my husband has his car.
They said they would ring him the next day when the car was ready for collection. My husband received no phone call, so made his way over to the garage at the end of the day. The person who saw him had no idea about my car and found it unbelievable that the car had been brought in the previous day! He also said that no-one had been off sick!!! Eventually they found my car! All was fine with the service - but not washed or hoovered out, which would have been nice, as a thank you for being so understanding for the inconvenience and our understanding the previous day. My husband then asked about the seatbelt stalk and he was told that this was not covered under the three year warranty! The interior was only covered for six months????????? I find this unbelievable and I want to take this further. If it is the case (which I doubt) surely I should have been advised of this when I first reported the fault? They told my husband that they hadnt checked it out - but did he want a quote?? Hmmm - no!
My car is like new and has only just done 10k.
I would be very grateful for any advice - thank you!

Sorry to hear about your bad experience with another Citroen UK dealership. I have had rough dealer with my dealership too on another issue, but was resolved by CUK and a different dealership.

Personally I would ask the dealership in question to put all that in writing, explain you are not happy with the level of service they have given you, then goto Citroen UK with it. you have nothing to loose.

When you say the seatbelt stalk I take you mean the buckle part down by the seats which you clip the belt into? Give the bolt holding it place a wee tighten and that will normally solve the squeak or push it forward slightly so the foam pad is touching the trim.

Sorry to hear that you have had the run-around...

In my opinion "Run-arounds" are no acceptable and dealerships need to be told of this by the customers.

          Welcome

I've been through similar. My car was booked in for repair work, and I was due to get a call from my dealer the next day, but it got late so I rang them. My contact was on holiday and no one else knew about the work. But I know this wasn't anyone's fault, different departments run differently and some communication was missing. So I understand I wasn't being passed about.

My biggest worry was that my warranty was due to expire in 3 days and I needed quite a bit of work doing. However they said they would honour the work from the date I reported the fault, not when it was to be fixed. Was the seatbelt fault reported within that first 6 months?

My seatbelt broke within the first few weeks of owning her and was repaired but I wasn't told about a different warranty period for the interior. Was just told it was covered. But it had completely busted itself!

          Could you try another dealers?

Thanks! Will let you know how I get on. So disappointing when you love a car but have hopeless backup from your local garage.

I have the same seatbelt buckle squeak. Have been lubricating every part of it with dry lube, no change. Bigfeet, what foam pad are you referring to? And I think the bolt cannot be tightened as it seems to be a rivet type bolt... I think the sound is coming from inside the plastic buckle part.

On one side of the belt buckle (that attaches to the floor of the car) there is a pad of cushioning material, mine is more reminiscent of the furry part of velcro, I think that it what Biggie is referring to

The buckle is attached to the seat, not the floor. Yeah I thought of that velcro type pad and in my DS3 the pad is attached to the buckle, so it doesn't matter in which position the buckle is. (sorry off-topic but the squeak is irritating).

Think this is the padded bit as mentioned.
