I'm no expert but in my past experience a burning smell has usually been down to brakes sticking on or the clutch....

When you stop the car do any of the brakes appear hot through the wheels ?

Mine is a petrol and it always does that, I think that's normal, isn't it?

Try find out where the smell eminates from. Did a track day recently (Brands) and the brakes didn't smell. Bleedin hot tho
Handbrake off, leave in gear, so I was told (Cools brakes quicker)
Have a look see if you've left something plasticky on the engine (Remember the Biro thread LOL) or if anythings rubbing (Wheel arch)

maybe something stuck on the exhaust, only when driving hard you will see the exhaust heat up a bit more and start to burn anything stuck onto the surrounding metal.

I am a bit of a believer that if there is a problem with anything, always go back to the last piece of work that's been done
So would start checking out the new exhaust, and rubber gaiters heating up, and if the exhaust is touching anything underside? Was it new or a used exhaust?

Yeah I can have a check it might have some body work touching I'm not sure I bought it second hand I think because I bought it of dangerousfish ha also du recon it would affect the my engine with having it on?

Never had this problem with the exhaust on my car so it's unlikely to be the actual exhaust.

As Chris said though, definitely check the underside and see if it's catching on anything in the vicinity of it.

Only in a good way. More heat and emissions away from the engine is only good- less back pressure etc

Get Kwik fit to have a look, they shouldn't charge to have a look

Just don't take any Bull- bet u a dollar that they recommend spending money- just don't

They charged me a fiver to adjust my newly fitted exhaust- then suggested £600 worth of tyres LOL. Politely declined
