ECOstart query

Is the ECOstart thingy supposed to start up when a door is opened?

Noticed it at the weekend, does it on both doors.

Mentioned to my driving instructor today that I thought it was an odd feature but he reckons it must be broken as shouldn't do that.

Any ideas?

Mine does the same. I think it's meant to do that.
I.e. your stopped at the front at a set of lights, someone goes to jump in your car via passenger door armed with a weapon. Your car starts, you can then drive off before they enter the car.
Or you forget that the ignition is still on and try to leave the vehicle, it restarts to remind you?

It's designed to do that, as Madman mentioned it's to remind you that the engine is actually still on when you leave the car. Also imagine pulling up to a petrol station to fuel the car, if the ECO didn't disengage then you would be filling the car while the engine was technically still running!

Surprised your driver instructor didn't think of that...
