  • Washer jets

    Hi Guys and Gals,

Hope everyone is OK and all set for Christmas etc.

Thanks to the weather I have been using my washer jets on more than an occasional basis and the DS3 doesn't seem to agree with this as the pump is now not working...
I'd go and check the fuse box to see if it's just the fuse but it's reaaaaally cold...
I'm not looking forward to having to take it in if it's actually gone as it had to back when I got it due to a leaky rear screen.
And before some smart arse says it *cough* no names *cough* the jets aren't frozen, the pump just doesn't make any noise or do anything, ruddy French!!!

Knowing how many people have had this problem I'd say that it's amost certain that the fuse has blown......It is F3 a red 10A fuse and its in the fuse box under the bonnet, adjacent to the battery, an acceptable fix seems to be to fit a 15A fuse instead.

As above...it'll be the fuse. Common problem on C3 and DS3.

C2's also are affected, and I wouldn't mind betting that there are dozen's more models from all makers that have similar problems. I suspect that the concentration of screenwasher liquid may be to blame in part.....How many people actually read the instruction on the bottle. The stuff I have here says it protects to -5c when undiluted.................

Mine has been frozen a couple of times when I've tried to use the washer. No sound from the pump, etc etc, however, once it's defrosted, it has been working. I'm surprised the fuse hasn't gone yet.

I bought some decent concentrated stuff from a motor shop, and I'm now using it neat.

A word of advice to all: Don't buy the stuff from ASDA. It says it can be used neat in severe winter conditions, but mine froze up at around -4, which meant I had to wait days to get any of the decent stuff into the tank.

The supermarket stuff isn't bad for summertime use when you just need the cleaning properties, but as you say for winter check what your using, the Halfords stuff that I have had says its good down to -15c when used undiluted.

Having a poke about and after looking at a couple of other owner forum (based in norway and other cold places) this one seems to get good reviews

Might be something to try with our DS3's
