Doubt if the MOT testers will open to see if the filter is inside
Surely wont be long till an emissions test toosigpicJog on Noddy

We have removed several DPF's since this news came about, customers were notified of the new laws prior to the removal but still wanted it gone.
When faced with a £2000 bill to replace it, removing it at a fraction of the cost still seems to be the favoured option still.
During an MOT from Feb 16th a tester is to check the DPF is still present by means of a visual inspection only. As a test this is about as much use as an ashtray on a motorcycle. Most DPFs are not even visible as they are hidden by heatsheilds and engine under trays and covers ...a tester is not allowed to remove any parts for inspection.
As for new test equipment to check this, this is a long long way off.
Removing a DPF has always been an MOT failure, it fails under the "any emissions related parts that have been removed or tampered with", same as for catalytic converters on petrol cars.
We will still continue to offer a removal service, but it is aimed at cars for track use only....
