Once you get to around 200 ish the plastic one is abit soft and prone to leak and disintegrate you need one with a good snappy action to hold boost better

No- its just a 25% uprated spring due to boost pressure increase
Rest of the housing is fine as Jamies been confirming

If you buy an off the shelf (EG Forge) recirc/dump valve, you should also upgrade the spring if youve been mapped

However, i am not in the scaremonger camp with the valve disintegrating (As some supplier websites suggest)
Had no issues with my last 150 running 190BHP for 20k miles with OEM Valve
Its just on the list to do (Got a warranty anyway)

I'm not really in the Pro Diesel corner it just ticks the correct boxes at the mo and no real allegiance to Citroen Either I think their after sales sucks

Chris, are you saying the Forge RV has a standard pressure spring as the advert suggests it is designed for mapped cars.

The supplier I emailed, when enquiring about the valves use for a higher boost pressure (Remapped) stated he could include a stronger spring

However, if you read one of Colganraz contributions, in one of the Recirc valve threads, he says he got standard and increased boost pressure springs in the kit

Best ask the supplier you are using

I think the valves are supplied with standard spec springs for direct replacement OEM valves

Ed- the Forge valves are piston driven (Better) as opposed to OEM diaphragm type, so they are sold as an upgrade, as much as, for vehicles that have higher boost. So think the default is a standard spring, unless it says otherwise

when i received mine i had a green spring in the valve iirc, and the stiffer one in packaging, i havent bothered to change springs though and all seems well

just had a quick look at my stock valve, the plastic has become brittle and when i took it apart, part of the plastic broke, touched it with my finger and broke some more, rest of the valve appears OK though, O-rings spring etc. if i could replace this plastic with new and put a stiffer spring in i reckon it would serve a few more years of action lol. shame really as this stock valve appears to be very well made, no doubt the electro valve would last a long time too
