Engine temperature failure

Just switched my car on and had a message tell me to stop I have a temperature failiure and my engine temp was in the Orange? Any help

Wow- check your water level for starters, or then it maybe temp sensor gone, water pump, coolant hose ripped etc etc

No now says engine needs repair :/

Is it booked in for your local Citroen dealer to look at it ?

Does the engine bay feel really hot ? I'm guessing you've been using it since the post on the 1st ?

its probably the temp sensor that's failed, seems to be a feature with DS3's. mine gave me a warning that something was up when i started to notice the temp gauge moving up and down like a yo-yo for a few days. It then went to red, and then i got the STOP light on the dash and temp gauge was constantly in the red. the sensor on mine was inside an aluminium housing, dealer replaced it and its been fine now.

Agree with Toxic that it's most likely just a failed sensor, if the ECU can't tell what temperature the engine is then it goes into panic mode for safety.
