BG 44K Fuel system cleaner

Loads different opinions all over other web forums about how to use it
Seems some say put in when there is little fuel in the tank. Fill up, and use till tank half empty, then fill up again

Also, some say its best to leave the BG44k in the system for long as possible, so it can do its cleaning job, so lots short journeys
Others say it doesnt matter as the only place the fuel sits is in the fuel lines, so you can use a tankful over days if you want

As usual, best to mismatch. Couple reasonable length journeys, mixed with some town driving, spaced over 10 days or so
Maybe fill up when get down the half a tank

I normally fill the car when it's down to about a third or quater of a tank, my commute is 7 miles each way, mixture of bypass driving and town centre traffic! I'll just drive and fill up as I normally do, and hopefully see some results

Your commute similar distance and road type to mine then.
Always get the engine up to temperature before I turn off at work, even if that means taking a diversion on colder days
Its weird it can take a good couple minutes difference sometimes, to reach max temp.

Yeah I find it odd, some days it's warmed up by the time I join the bypass, about 3 miles from setting off. Other times it's still not fully warm when I exit the bypass 3 miles or so further. However most mornings I let the car run on my drive for a good few minutes to warm.

Yes- me too. Also when stopped, leave for a minute before turn off. Something to do with oil dispersion
My THP 150 didn't sound smooth as silk, but never let me down in 23k
Still reckon these cars hate winter- especially below 7deg c

Agreed! My Cooper S mini, with their version of the THP sounded rough as toast in the cold. Roll on the warmer weather

Diesel owners don't go out and buy this, you need the BG244 - which is what I use

used that too on my Altea TDI Sport. It definitely helped, though general running I used Millers Diesel Power Ecomax. a full bottle lasts for about 10 tank fulls. Halfrauds sell it for about 13 quid, though i used to by it near trade for about 7-8 quid.

Do you have to run the tank down fairly empty before you use it? Or can you use on a half full tank then fill up?

cant see it mattering tbh, as long as the hole bottle goes in on a full tank. ordered mine today and will report back any improvements once i get it.

The main thing to do is make sure its mixed, so just dont pour in on a full tank my suggestion.
Also, as said earlier, when its in the full tank, use half the tank, then fill up again. Ensures some of the stuff is in the system a while, at different concentrates

I can report (from Sydney) that mine still starts a little roughly in the morning, even though it's 33 deg C here

What exactly is this stuff supposed to clean? I haven't heard of it before.
