  • Slight judder in 4th & 5th gear

    Hi there

My car has a slight judder only every now and again when driving at low revs on the motorway in 4th & 5th gear.
Its a 90hp diesel, had anyone else experienced this as it is booked in at the dealership on monday.

    Thanks Kurt

Would this be approx @ 1500 revs?
The judder might be associated with the turbo kicking in and out. Mine does this sometimes so I avoid cruising bang on this rev speed.

Yes it does seem to be around that rev range, more annoying than anything. I wonder what the dealership will say or do about it, if anything!!!

I have found that if I am on the border of 4th and 5th it seems more economical to stay in 4th on turbo than in 5th at low revs.
Think others have found this too.

Cheers for that tip, i'll try that. What's your average MPG? Mine's at 53.2, is this about average?
Also i see you've had a re-map, been thinking about getting this done, is it really noticeable, i.e quicker & economical?

          Cheers Jimbob.

It is certainly noticeable and makes driving much more of a pleasure. It is faster with much better torque but not much more economical. Last tankful I averaged 58.8mpg but I have tried not to thrash it for once in my life
If I really hammer it then it goes down to about 50 mpg.
You would get more power from yours than mine as the 99g model has a smaller fixed turbo.
Come to a KK meeting for a demo!!!!

Think that will be next on the list then, i've just had the rear windows tinted a darker colour and it looks wicked, really sets it off now. More power would be a nice little bonus though.
The lads at work all call me the 40 year old chav now i've had my windows done lol. I'll have to put pictures up when i can find out how to lol.
What's a KK meeting? Is it Krispy Kreme? As im only around the corner from Trafford Park where i do frequent!!

If your driving the car in fourth at 1500 rpm what do you expect the dealership to do! Change down
