  • Rejecting a DS3

I have had many faults beginning from the first 3 weeks of purchase, I have now owned the car for 3 months. Too many faults to name, some are minor, but I've given them many chances to fix them yet they failed to do so. I've been very patient until recently I've decided to reject the car. I wrote to the manager requesting a refund. He soon emailed back saying that he can't assist with the rejection because he believes the minor faults can be fixed. I told him I'm not prepared to wait any longer.. I've waited 3 months.

Obviously he doesn't want me to reject the car. But I've given them so many chances. I've paid a lot of money for this car so I deserve what I pay for. What do you think? I don't want to back down and allow them to attempt to fix it again. I have the right to a new car, to enjoy as I originally intended. I haven't enjoyed this car at all.. It's been constant stress yet I've still been paying the money every month!

Gearbox synchro popped within 3 weeks. Was in the garage already for a few days
Next there was constant rattling inside the car. They did something to the glovebox in an attempt to fix it. That's when I noticed the glovebox doesn't even close properly. There are various lose panels inside the car. The window makes noises after it closes, like a tapping sound. They lubricated the window in attempt to fix this but it soon came back. Next the chrome panel on the outside of the car was hanging off, just 2 months after purchase! They glued it back on.. But not correctly. And 2 weeks ago I spent an hour trying to start the car. It displayed the orange fault light on the dash.. I was going to call Citroen but luckily it finally started

Yes.. It's like some lazy ass down the factory was soon to finish his shift and thought he'd just do a half ass job on the car

Thats a shame BigChris- the DS3 is renowned for internal rattles, and there are a few fixs in place for these to be rectified (Info rapids)
Suppose it may depend on how many miles you have done if you can reject, but if you have kept record of your complaint they should take some notice

the clunk after the window is a standard feature as well, but I believe bigfeet had found the problem on here somewhere

Also, I don't think you can reject on these minor issues...

The window noise is quite normal, it's part of the anti-pinch system as far as I have been led to believe.

In regards to the reject you have to prove that the car is no longer fit for purpose, best advice would be to speak with your local Citizens Advice to get all the information you need. Granted I'm not an expert on Law but I do understand that the dealer does have to right to attempt to fix the issues.

But I've given them 3 months to fix it. They have tried but the same problems returned. Even if they were able to fix it, shouldn't I have the right to a new car? It's easy to call them minor issues, as the manager did, but he wasn't the one behind the wheel for 3 months. All that rattling and panels coming lose is enough to drive anyone mad. I've had 3 months of stress and disappointment. It's almost as if I've bought a 5 year old car, not a new one, although I'm paying the price of one...

If your that upset go through the process to reject the car it is your right but do not be surprised when they fight it because aside from the gearbox they do seem to be small issues in that are not impacting the drivability of the car just your enjoyment and piece of mind while driving it. How many times has each issue been looked at? Have you all the visits, phone calls and time without car documented? The more info you have the better for you.

Why not try a different dealership explain to them your problems and that the other dealership had not fixed your car after several attempts. Then at least you can say to CUK that you have given 2 different dealers the chance to fix it might be in your favour.
( I know all about stress and disappointment )

Got to say I'm with Arn63 on this, go to another dealer and explain the situation. Hopefully you'll get better service.

With the faults you have posted I doubt if you would have any chance of rejecting the car other than the Synchro issue which I agree should not have happened but has been sorted the other things are minor attention to detail problems which the dealer should have sorted out .

I have owned 2 ds3's one petrol then Diesel and the build quality was the same both had the clunking window (drivers ) so I recon its normal the trim should not be like it and the rattles I think are the same for every car Expensive /cheap French crapand our shite roads at the end of the day it aint no Roller

Take it to another dealer and explain your problems but keep Cuk informed

I don't care if they or another dealer can fix the car now. I feel as though I didn't get what I paid for. I've spent 3 months with a car that doesn't feel new at all. 3 months of stress and problems.
