  • 1st Servicing: COST

    Hi!

Unfortunately this is a first post for me but I'm after some info on a 2013 DStyle Plus 1.6VTi Manual and the cost of servicing. My good friend has asked me if the quoted service cost is correct after booking her first service with the supplying dealer earlier today, the total cost being quoted £289

The dealer has told her that this is in accordance with the scheduled servicing and even pulled the 'to keep your warranty this work is needed'.

I've not managed to find what is required at the first service, but I can't imagine it's much other than an oil filter, oil and at a push an air filter and (a VERY expensive?) pollen filter, at which I would imagine £100-£150 would be more appropriate.

What does the first service cover according to the schedule, and what should this cost.
I'm supposed to be calling the offender/dealer tomorrow to question the price and see if they've tagged unnecessary services onto the cost.

Did your friend get the car new.

I thought new cars came with 3yrs free servicing/breakdown cover.
    Mine did and that's a 2013.

      Welcome to the club

If the car was bought new then I'm pretty sure a service plan should be included as Tbart says.

If not then the first service should be around £190ish (this is what I was quoted before I told them I had a service plan).

Am glad this subject has arose, i had a missed call from the dealer where i had our car from (new) so i popped in yesterday to see why they had rang me, its 12 month service and told it would cost £192 all in, i booked it in for monday but when i got back home i looked at our paperwork to discover the car is only 9 months old anyway, so i rang them back to cancel monday an i would see them in 3 months time - i had completely forgot about the free service plan when we bought the car so i will be on their case about this soon!

The service depts don't seem to know if you have the free service plan, or if they do they don't seem to check, my dealer was the same, when I told them I had this pack they were fine with it and noted my records for the next service interval.

The car was a pre reg and did not come with any servicing plan, in hindsight she should of pushed for that to be included.

I've seen the letter sent and whilst it doesn't say it, it does seem to suggest (to her) that they need to service it for the warranty to remain in place. Gonna have a call around, there's a motorsport specialist down the road that I've used for my renaultsports that I'll call.

Does anyone know what the schedules maintenance is? It's due because of the age of the vehicle, not mileage (5k on the clock if that).

Yep- they knew nothing about my free service plan, and the rep who sold me the car sits 20 foot away from them LOL

I don't have the free service plan as I bought my DSport 155 when she was 6 months old - my local citroen dealer charged me £276 for the 1st year service back in January

Actually there is some truth in that. If there is a major warranty claim any dealer can veto not to do the work if they feel the service has not been carried out according to spec.

When having a warranted vehicle service outside the network always have a copy of the parts receipts and service sheet to produce in the event of a claim.

I had my second service done last week away from the main dealers, saved £110 and it was done using genuine Citroen parts. What really annoyed me with the main dealer was the fact that its difficult to get it there and get to work on time, they won't accept the car any earlier than 8.30am and every date I could get it there they didn't have a courtesy car available. They actually couldn't give a monkeys whether they got my business or not. I can happily say I despise dealing with them, I find them so unhelpful.

So my local independant garage, collected my car the night previous, left me a car, and returned my car the following evening.

Sounds grim Bluenose. Theyre not all the same, maybe try another dealer?
The non Citroen garage seems to understand customer requirements :-)

I did try one in Oxford where I work but they were saying it only needed Level 1 and this was incorrect, so my trust level with them dropped. The other dealers in the Birmingham are are all on the north side, and I live south and work even more south, they just don't work for me. Never mind.
