  • Plasticote or Plastidip advice please

Hi folks I need some advice.

My wheels are Team Dynamics black with lettering round them that is sunk into the metal.
I tried painting the lettering with white paint but can't get it neat enough.
Could I fill it level with Plastisomething and get a neat job?
    Any other ideas also welcome.

    Cheers

    JB

Try covering the area over with masking tape and then cut out the area of the lettering with a craft knife. Then paint and allow to dry before carefully removing the masking tape.

I wouldnt do that as you would be cutting the paint as well with a craft knife which could lead to peeling

I've done this on Marchesini motorcycle wheels when changing the colour i milled the design of the original stickers into the rims and inlayed the paint. You need a fresh blade in the knife and only use light pressure to cut into the area of each letter. it's not a job to be rushed, just take your time.

Funny Cyclops - they were white and I had them powder coated black!
Only want white letters - as I'm sure you well know!

Now there's an idea! How long did it last?

Surely you could gloss coat over the top and it would last longer?

I may try again. I have some white Hammerite.
Maybe if I leave it to dry a bit first then wipe it?

Will let you know, but no probs ATM
Any coating over the plasticine may make it more difficult to remove
