  • Cold clutch noise

Hello! My Clutch does really annoying noise when taking off. This only happens when the clutch is cold. Can anybody tell me what is wrong with my clutch?
I found a video about similar noise https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m3QE5kSfKm0

    Hi

I'm not very technical, does yours sound the same as that 300ZX in the video ? I'd guess the clutch needs adjusting for some sort of slippage maybe ? Is your DS3 still covered by a warranty ? If so, I'd get Citroen to take a look....

    Good luck

I have no speakers on my work PC, but does it sound like a squawk?

If so, read up online about a similar problem with the Mini R56 Cooper S (same engine as Citroen THP) also search "Chewbacca clutch noise Mini R56" - I had two instances where the dual mass flywheel was slipping/moving and caused premature wearing of the clutch (20k miles each time) and both had to be replaced at an eye-watering £1,800 charge to MINI UK

I'd suggest trying to video it, sometimes its hard to replicate the noise.

      Good luck

I think that I have exactly same problem as Mini R56 Cooper S. The last few weeks have been warm, and I have not heard any sound from clutch. It only happens when the car has been idle (for at least 6 hours or overnight) and weather is cold.

Might be getting a touch of this myself- are there any belts that could slip in the THP engine- or is it just the chain?

I have a custom-reinforced clutch in my chipped 207 THP and I have similar squeak every time when I start to move. Although in my case it's normal and it's caused by harder clutch disc (compared to stock). I had to get used to it. :-) On stock clutch there was no squeak, but with as I tuned engine to almost 200 HP/330 Nm stock clutch weared out just after first 10 kkm...

Mine has been squawking occasionally, on take off, when the car has people in it (Under load) and also in reverse.
However, whilst it was getting worse, to about once per journey, from couple times a month, it doesn't happen anywhere near every time
                  Difficult to prove to Citroen

So- had a chat with a mechanic friend who said it could be the clutch release bearing (Thrust bearing)
He sat in front seat (18 stone lol) and told me to keep hand brake on and pull away a few times
No clutch squawk- and hey ho, no clutch squawk for last 5 days or so, although the clutch did burn a bit!

Doubt its cured it, but nice not to have the noise

Sorry mate but I prefer a clutch squeak even every day than to burn it just to avoid some noises...

Fair enough- would rather mine go kaput within warranty anyways
