  • DS3 Cabrio Door rattle/movement

    Hi all,

I have a 2014 DS3 155THP Cabrio. Purchased brand new and so far enjoying it very much.

However I have noticed that over the slightest bump in the road the drivers door literally rattles in its frame! I'm not talking about trim or door card. The entire door is rattling in the cavity! The passenger door does this a tiny amount over very rough bumpy terrain, but the drivers door is pretty much rattling away most journeys...

Is this a form of scuttle shake and thus a characteristic of the car, or is this something other cabrio owners have not experienced and is thus in need of adjustment? Looks like it could come in on the striker a bit, may be a bit tighter then? ( May I point out I have owned a number of convertibles and am aware of the foibles and structural issues, just seems odd this problem is local to one side of the vehicle)

Never had a car with a warranty and don't want to get fobbed off saying they all do that, if they don't.

Can other Cabrio owners shed some light?

    Thanks

Mine's a hatchback, not a cabrio, but I had similar problems, which the dealer cured by adjusting the striker plates.

As DaveB said it does point to the door catches maybe needing adjustment, pop back to your dealer and ask them to take a quick look.

If this was down to scuttle shake then you would expect this on both sides, but that said I have an Alfa Spider and never suffered with door rattles.

I get the same noise in my hatchback. Mechanic from the dealer told me it was normal :-/ I'd read about this before but couldn't remember what people said it was called.

Does anyone know if it'll be covered by the Citroen extended warranty?

Rattles and noise are not normally covered but it does depend on what is causing it. It might be worth speaking with your dealer about the issue.

As well as the door rattles I had a rattle in one of the rear side trims, cured by fitting modified clips, & a dash rattle (more of a squeak, really) fixed under warranty. The dash rattle was a common problem on early production cars, cured by the insertion of a foam strip. . . check your Inforapids, Biggie!

Lol! I did say not normally covered!

On Citroen Service there are links for cures to common issues (info rapids) but it doesn't cover everything.

I'll contact my local dealer soon and mention the fix that sorted DaveB's problem.
It can be pretty loud and is incredibly annoying.
