  • OBD Scan + Torque. No Error Codes Stored In ECU?

Recently bought one of those blue tooth OBD Scan (Vgate Scan) and am using it with the free edition of Torque for Android.

When I plug the Vgate into the test socket it seems to automatically clear the fault showing on the dash (Stop/Start not working) and when I run a scan it says no error codes are found in the ecu.

I know there must be an error because when I unplug the tool and start the engine the same fault flags up again on the dash.

Anyone ever used one of these error code tools and if so is there something I am doing wrong? I have hear mention of a DS3 plug in for Torque, maybe that's already in the Pro version? I don't mind paying for it, just want to be sure it will work.

I have exactly the same dongle, works fine on the THP. Only tried the pro version though.
Maybe your dongle is a clone, these are very common and they don't work right.

Got the Torque Pro app myself, and use an OBD2 Scan tool adaptor
Whe Torque Pro 2 app works it is fab to be honest. Never had an error code, but i can access where they would be displayed, and cleared easy enough

With my HTC One mobile, its getting it to work. Usually have to restart the mobile every time. Bluetooth issues.
My first OBD2 adaptor (Bit you plug in behind glove compartment) wasnt too much cop- so bought another which seems OK

Is there a mobile out there that dont have issues LOL

        while driving?????

I think you can "pop" the connector out, so that it dangles, but not tried this myself yet. Hopefully someone will be along who has done this, and tell us the safest way to do it.

I've never managed to get any error codes to pop up on torque pro, regardless of even if the dash is red.

            Nevertheless otherwise it works flawlessly.

The OBD connector behind the flat piece next to the glovebox, has little push out bits of plastic either side, so you can disengage the port (Looks lik a small female scart connector) so it dangles behind.

You can leave the OBD2 scanner connected, dangled behind, and shut the glovebox

In relation to fault codes being shown, i wouldnt know as never had a fault code. But no reason to think it wouldnt show, and when the fault clears, i could clear it from ECU too.

If you buy the Torque Pro app(about £3) and get the track recorder plug-in, you can do things like this:
