Plastic Rim around Wing Mirror (Small chips) (Failed attempt at changing covers)

Hello, I made an unsuccessfull attempt at changing the Wing Mirror cover earlier today and when all hope was lost I tried to use a scredriver to pry off the wing mirror cover. After that all failed I realised i had left a few scratches and marks in the actual permanent plastic part of the wing mirror. There not that big but I bought the car very recently and I was just wondering if there would be any way to remove the little chips or make them less visible. Heres a picture:

I would guess maybe some black wax/polish would lessen the visible marks.

Thanks for the response, yeah those are the pictures i followed although those are allot clearer than the ones i was using, its step 5b that really threw me!
