  • iphone4s crackling bluetooth streaming

I've done a few forum searches but cant find an answer on this one. Bluetooth playback of iphone music is crackly and scratchy. It is the same in my 2013 Berlingo van, has anyone found a solution to this problem?? I'm on ios 7.1 and the car is a 2013 dsport+

Yes, mine was/is the same. The Radio head unit is being replaced under warranty.

Mine is similar, and its a brand new 14 plate dstyle+ I think its just not the best connection over bluetooth, have you tried connecting it with the cable and seeing if the quality improves? also does anyone no if you can adjust the bass and treble etc only had the car a few days and not had a play yet?

I did try the cable in my berlingo and it was just the same as Bluetooth audio (quality wise). Im wondering if its a iTunes/iphone quality issue via the usb box.

To adjust bass/treble and other audio settings just press the button with a musical note on it and navigate the menu using the up/down and left/right buttons

Perhaps trying a memory stick or searching for people who don't have iPhones (if there are such people) and trying that? Thanks for the Bass/Treble info!

Its just annoying when Citroen give you this facility and it plainly doesn't work very well

Again mine is the same. However, i tried using a Creative Zen Mp4 player as well as the Iphone. Both the blue tooth and the USB connect gave crackling and popping sounds. The USB also gave an electrical noise when i used it.
Citroen approved the radio to be replaced under warranty almost instantly.
If you have the car in warranty I would strongly recommend taking it to your local Citroen garage for inspection and warranty claim. (In my case all costs are being covered by the warranty, including labour)

Seems strange thought that both the Berlingo and Ds are the same. I'm wondering if it's an iTunes issue because its bad on some songs and not on others.....hmmmm

Don't know about iphone 4, but I have the
Iphone 5 and spotify through the app. It
Plays perfectly through the bluetooth setting.
No crackling or distortion at all.

Picked up my motor yesterday, 61 plate. Tried both Aux lead, which instantly recognises my iPhone 5S (but as an iPod), and Bluetooth. Definitely better sound quality with the lead but annoyingly it constantly plays song in alphabetical order, regardless of my input!

Bluetooth has poor audio output, certain notes are distorted and crackly. Might try reducing phone output volume and removing any phone EQ settings to see if that works.

Obviously I would expect a small quality difference but this seems quite extreme... Position of the phone doesn’t help either.

Bokeh, do you stream music directly through Spotify and have you tried it through standard Music app?

I have the same problem. My dealer denied such an issue could exist and even said they would charge for a diagnostic check. I complained to Citroen who told me to try the dealer again. They eventually checked it out, told me there was no problem. This despite the fact I had owned another DS3 previously and also tried BT connection in a showroom car, both worked flawlessly.

The shoddy way I was treated by both Citroen and my dealer certainly had a bearing on the fact I decided to get a new car last weekend.

I've had my radio unit replaced by Citroen and a new AUX port fitted. The Bluetooth music is still rubbish but everything else is now fab! I even know I have a Sub in the boot (something which I couldn't tell before)

I gave up using an iPod on a cable or via bluetooth on my phone as the quality was always crackly. I went instead for a 32gb thumb drive and that is perfect quality and I wouldn't go back. I realise not everyone has the usb port for thumb drives though

Bit confused here. So Citroen after being made aware, forced the dealer look at the car with no fee and they are the bad guys? From what you have written it was the Dealer that was absolute shit. Good luck with the new car.
