  • Speaker wire colours

Hey guys. Took the head unit out today to have a look at the back to see if there is a way to wire up a sub, and found no pre outs. So im gonna tap into the speaker wires to get a signle to the sub. Does anyone know what colours represent which speakers? And which one belongs to the boot mounted sub?

Dont want to cut into the wrong ones

I think Remus doesn't have a sub . But of course looking at the wires at the speakers end will work.

Hey guys thanks for reply. And thanks for the link Bigfeet76. After speaking with a few car audio Specialists, they recommened for quality and better sound, im better off just replacing the head unit with an after market player.

Purchased a subwoofer and new speakers. So gonna look around for a decent head unit. I also need to buy a device to keep the stalk control and parking sensors.

Here a link to what ive been told is needed for this to work for anyone else thinking of changing there headunit

                  Thanks again.

Interesting little device. How much does it cost? Aren't there other functions you'll be losing when you replace the head unit? I.e. trip computer etc.

What speakers and sub did you go for?

I wouldn't be surprised if you loose the trip computer and temp display, but a quick way to check might be to simply unplug the headunit

Hey Stefan. It cost £89.99 for the device plus £4.99 for the patch lead. Not sure about the trip computer being lost, but im not really fussy about that as I never look at it.

Subwoofer wise I went for the vibe black air v12

And speakers, I went for the vibe Black air 6

Hey John, you still maintain the display for the temp as it is fixed in the antenna bay according to the audio guys. Not sure how it's sent to the display though.

That's why I suggest simply unplugging the headunit and seeing what happens, but as a lot of the functions are controlled by the headunit I suspect that somethings NOT going to work

I will try it tomorrow and see what happens to the display when the unit is removed
